Two videos this week- I'm thinking of you & miss you!
LOVE ALWAYS,
Good morning Kind Kids & parents...Here is your weekly video. Come pick up this week's packet--stay busy.
Hey there, Franklin Kindergarten Families!
Here is this week’s packet of worksheets, phonogram “cut'n'paste”, book, and what would have been your child’s normal daily homework. On the other side of this page are directions/plans for the packet. The goal is to finish whatyoucan!
You can look at the newsletter for ideas of things to work on besides the packet. Check your school email for the video(s) of this week or the school website, www.franklinphoneticschoolsunnyslope.com.
Here are some other ideas to check out, if you’d like (or if you haven’t already):

Directions for the contents of packet
The worksheets are grouped for each day of the week. There is never any homework on Fridays.
Desk Paper (DP): After your child writes their first/last name they should trace/write/color the top 2 portions. In the middle section, they may need you to tell them what the pictures are in order to write the missing middle sound/letter. Then they will circle the correct ladybug (or correct numeral) and finish writing the number sequence. Complete the connect-the-dot on the other side and color.
Math (variety of worksheets): Use addition and/or counting skills to complete the worksheets then write the correct answer. Coins—trace & write the name of the coin; have your child write the value of the coin, read the passage about the coin, then circle that coin. Follow the directions to the other types of coin pages.
Reading: “ike” word family, Mike’sBike: Read the passage, your child will echo read each sentence after you, then have them draw (illustrate) about what they read. Dan’sVan: Read the passage, your child will echo read each sentence after you, then they draw (illustrate) about what they read. Your child will answer the questions at the bottom—Answer key is attached for your convenience.
“Cut n’ Paste” for the day: After your child writes his/her name on the picture page their attention is focused on the word page. They will examine all the words and underline the phonogram as it appears in the word examples. After phonograms are underlined, they should read the words. Phonograms having more than one sound can be marked. Words/pieces can then be colored different colors accordingly….then they will cut out the words containing the phonogram that is being studied and paste them in their proper places on the picture page.
Book: Mother Helps Tim—Some suggestions include: Monday & Tuesday read the book to your child, sit him or her on your lap or otherwise make it cozy & relaxed for them to listen for “the pleasure of reading a book”. Wednesday & Thursday have your child-echo read after each sentence. *If you think your child isreadyto read it themselves, each of you should read every other page or have your child read the book in its entirety & answer comprehension questions (who, what, where, how, and why). Any way you choose to read this book is fine, but try to read it.
Homework: Spelling/Phonogram—Follow the directions for your options. Watch the Phonogram Zoo DVD, if needed. Word Family Reading—read the word family (-eck & -um) out loud and have your child echo. Then have your child echo read the passage after every sentence or have them read the whole passage themselves. Your child should answer the comprehension questions at the bottom of the page. Minute 7 & 8—follow the directions given.
Happy Monday Kind Kids & family!
I don't want you to stress about the packets of work. Do what you can. In August, when school starts back up (in person), your child will get back on track. We are teachers and that's our superpower. What we can't fix is the social-emotional trauma that prevents the brain from learning. So right now, I just need you to share your calm, share your strength, and share your laughter with your children.
April 20th video too large to upload, please check student emails
I'll send you another video this Thursday. Enjoy your time with your family!

April 13th - Video link
Come by the school to pick up your "homework" packet to keep you busy. Get some breakfast and lunch while your there!
I'll be sending a video to you every Monday & Thursday. Mondays' videos will be focused mainly on sight words & I will read a book while you listen (storytime). Thursdays' will be focused on addition-flashcards (maybe some quick learning of subtraction--I was going to introduce subtraction upon our return of Springbreak, but that didn't happen) & I will read a different book for storytime. The reason I'm sending out 2 videos is to keep you, students from getting bored since we can't meet in person. I'll try to keep them under 15 minutes :) Farewell for now
LOVE ALWAYS,

time each day. – O. A. Battista
Poem:“Tying Shoes” (Poem is linked here)
